Suggestions for Aion
Now, I did play a Sorcerer, so someone please confirm if other classes didn't have this issue. For me though, I spent half the time killing, and half the time sitting in dirt, replenishing my mana. This needs a slight revision. The third strike this game had on offering to casual players was the PvP itself. Don't take this too seriously though, since I could only base this off of duels. So who knows, maybe end-game PvP is much different (though I wouldn't count on it, save for the objectives). Lastly, as I wrap up this lengthy analysis, I just want to mention one of the most important components to me in what I look forward to in a MMOG. The lore. Don't confuse this with the storytelling aspect of the game - I rather enjoyed the little cinematics and straightforward layout of the quests chains ( quest helper was also very convenient). Oh, and the titles were a nice little bonus as well. But when I went to their site to look at the history, the background to it all, I found myself standing in ankle-deep water. Things seem to be springing from various portals all the time (for instance, the Balaur), with very little explanation as to why this had to happen.
Perhaps the developers intend to expand on this or something, which I hope they do. But I just never found myself really drawn into their story. To their credit, they have potential with the whole Elyos playing off Asmodians thing going for them, and I hope they take this to a new level. Anyway, that's about it for suggestions from me. Feel free to disagree, agree, or remain bor- I mean neutral. Oh, and you might say, "hey, give the game a break, it just got out of beta." Yes, I would normally agree that all of this should be taken with stride. Except for the fact that his has already seen its full version released in Asia, therefore these mechanics I mentioned before should already be well-defined and supposedly fine-tuned (at least I would hope so). So as it stands, I might still come off as being a little harsh on the game. But I'm sticking to it. Oh, and if you're already an avid Aion player, next time you see someone attempting to take on at least five or so adds, simply wave at them and be off on your merry way.
